Standard Bank
Standard Bank's Precious Metal Exchange Traded Notes (ETN) is a cost-effective and convenient way to take long or short leveraged views on the performance of precious metals. A total return index is created from the near dated USD gold futures, USD interest rates, the USDZAR exchange rate and roll-out-rebalancing when current futures contracts are converted to more distant futures contracts. Typically near-dated precious metal future contracts are the most cost effective way to gain exposure to the underlying commodity basket. Standard Bank's Precious Metal ETN has the benefits of not incurring costs for physically owning, storing and insuring precious metals. In addition, the "inward listed securities" classification means Standard Bank's Precious Metal ETNs do not impact on individual and corporate foreign exchange allocation. However, institutional investors need to report holdings and trades as part of their foreign allowance limits.
